Chucky C at Sweet Lorraine's

Boo and I had a great New Year's Eve celebration at Sweet Lorraine's. Chucky C and Clearly Blu put on such a great show that no one really cared about or needed to hear anyone else, especially with Chamika on lead guitar. Both Chucky C and Chamika, the lead guitarist were members of Louisiana Purchase and their familiarity is evident in how they fit like hand and glove onstage. Their shared and vast repertoire of both instrumental and vocal music in the blues, r&b and Jazz genres had much to please many. Chucky C or Charles Elam as I was introduced back in the day is master of flute, soprano, alto and tenor sax and harmonica and he can really sing. As a bonus you are also going to have a good laugh at every Chucky C performance. The man is so at ease with his musical abilities but he never takes himself as seriously as he could, opting instead to really having a great time on stage entertaining himself and whoever comes. The audience always has a ball because Chucky C will have it no other way. You can catch Chucky C and Clearly Blu every Thursday evening in an early 9-11PM show at Sweet Lorraine's Jazz Club.

The included buffet of traditional “good luck” New Year's Eve meal of black-eyed peas, meat filled cabbage and cornbread. They also had potato salad, green salad, fish and chicken wings a la Sweet Lorraine's all of which made the evening that much more enjoyable and satisfying.

We all got up at for the count down to midnight, many donning party hats and popping the party streamer poppers supplied at each table, and then we went out and viewed the fireworks on the river, quite visible and beautiful from the front of Sweet Lorraine's. We had a champagne toast, and then the second set began. I guess we left around 2:30AM.
