Power! In a word, power describes what Michael
Baptiste brings to the stage. He does the classic soul music of the
fifties and sixties as well as R&B of today, but my favorites are his
renditions of Otis Redding's hits, something I have never heard pulled off
with the mastery that Mike brings to their rendition. He has that smooth raspy quality of voice that expresses the depth of feeling that soul music is all about, and the timing to bring back to life any classic tune he sings. His talent becomes even more apparent when he duets with other vocalist as harmony comes second nature to this masterful and powerful vocal presence. |
