That's right, Jazz Violinist, but let that not
fool you. If you go to a Michael Ward performance you are going to get up
out of your seat, because in his virtuoso improvisations the themes are
traditional and modern "classics", so its jazz, but often R&B and funk
based, I've even heard him go country western for second. I believe Michael Ward takes it to a whole different level when he performs with another instrumental soloist and even some vocalist. Its a dueling style that is solidly based in the New Orleans "head cuttin" tradition, when there is a call and refrain that escalates until both performers play stuff they may never have played quite that way before, http://www.michaelwardviolinist.com/ |
