Deacon John is a band leader, singer,
guitarist, and excellent at them all. His band is renown for its "big
band" sound and orchestration. But that really only touches the surface of
this consummate entertainer and virtuoso musician. The man is amazing and
he surrounds himself with a cadre of accomplished singers and musicians
who have no trouble delivering a powerful mix of traditional jazz
standards, New Orleans classics and, yes even some Delta blues.
To experience a Deacon John set is "fulfilling" for the lack of a better word. You know that everything you heard was as good as it gets and you heard a range of music that fulfills your need for a significant yet very entertaining musical experience.
